So Cute It Hurts

carry all.

I still haven't totally recovered from what i now refer to as "coming down with the funk" (congestion, sore throat and headache), however i had quite a productive day yesterday. Pretty proud about that...

These are some of my newest miniature tote bags, one is a custom order for a dollhouse settings and some others are Coco's goodies. She needed a few more (okay, i needed her to have a couple more).

These tote bags are definitely a great way to use up some fabric scraps, and i always like it when i find projects that work for that.

This is a new bag design. I made a pattern out of a paper and tweaked it along the way. I really dig how it turned out. Very spring. I finished it with some raw edges and Coco seemed to be down with that. I love it's raw edges and that vintage shabby chic rose print paired with the linen.

This new bag pattern is easy to sew, and it's cute ~ sometimes something being easy doesn't necessarily mean it's cute, not the case here. I love it so much, i made another one bigger in size. This time i used my all time favorite vintage cross stitch pattern and finishd it with some tinny small gathering stitches. Cute, eh? I am filled with total giddiness.

mail for Coco

Sunday is here. It's my easy day ~ the day where i get to spend time reading and lounging. 

One of the highlights of my week was receiving a mail for Coco. It was a package of wigs for this lucky little girl. I think she nearly had her mind blown by seeing some of her favorite wig styles. I appeared pretty pleased too.

Exactly how many wigs is too many? I'm not sure, but as far as i can tell Coco hasn't gotten there yet. I can't resist posting a few photos of Coco in her new wigs. We love it. I'm positive we will have a pretty hard time deciding which wig is our favorite. 

They are so well-made and maybe it's just me, but i think they're too cute for words. Truly. Amazing is an understatement.

pleased as punch

So happy Sunday has come. It is such a good day for supreme laziness! 

But before i say anything more, i must first say THANKS a million for the kind words and support about my first week at the new job adventures. You guys are so sweet. If you want to know the truth, the week went pretty alright but the pace of all the reading and learning the new business and functional processes are making me a little nutso and a little overwhelmed. I'm doing what i can and, trying to stay calm and carry on. I think i am beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel in that department, though. Just a glimmer.

I treated myself to one "surviving the first week" gift in the form of a beautiful shabby chic Cherry Cupcake table clock from a local home decor shop. Not sure why it took me so long to find a table clock for my creative workspace, but it was worth the wait, though.  Love the shabby chic feel and the size of it. I can't seem to stop looking at it. It makes me happy.

I also like the fact that the Cherry Cupcake clock is made of metal. I couldn't resist adding one of my favourite magnet to it (the love birds are my favorite!).

not bad for a Sunday

Happy Easter! It has been a really good one so far. I was able to finally accomplish some sewing and a little spring cleaning/project scheming. Hope you are having a nice one, too.

It is no secret that i love my little girl, Coco, and that i photograph her often. I am also not shy about posting photos of her in this space and over on flickr on a pretty regular basis. What can i say, she is rather photogenic and i'm a bit of a crazy Lati-doll-lady. Could be worse.

I took a few snaps of her for the Easter celebration. I know it's a little weird to have her post in her all time favorite sheep hat instead of a bunny hat. I couldn't resist, i really adore sheep more than any other adorable animals.

Well, my friends, the time has finally come. I am starting my new job adventure on Monday. I'm thrilled. Thanks so much for all the wonderful offerings of love, encouragement and congratulations. You guys are the best. And I am so grateful to be able to send news like this out into the world and feel such kindness and support from people i have never even met. Kind of blows my mind, actually. And most of all, for reminding me that so much good exists in the world.

time for a change

After it being up in the air for a while, it's probably safe to say that i am finally getting everything sorted out and moving to a new job opportunity some time this April (soon). As expected, i'm feeling a wide range of emotions about this move.

As you can probably understand, i've been dealing with a lot of sadness about moving away from all the great friends i have made in my current company. I am going to miss them so much. They know who they are. I love them to bits and can't imagine not seeing them every weekday.

I don't even know exactly where this new job opportunity will lead me, i just know that it's time for a change. Because the flipside of having an extremely long years of comfort level with something that is the same, is the potential to overlook the new, and squeezes out the possibility for any new wonderful times to happen in place of what was.

I am going to stay open to how everything in my life, both professionally and personally evolves, and to do my best to arrive at all of my experiences being the best person i can be in that moment. And trusting (something i'm still working on and i still need small reminders) that everything is working just as it should, even when i can't quite see exactly how it is coming together. Because when i trust, life flows easier and i feel so much better.

But on the flipside of all this, i can hardly wait to land in the new place and see what the future holds for me there. Good things are defintely on the horizon for me. That I know.

A special thanks to sweet Wini, Pei Li and Vicky, for walking along side with me during the times of uncertainty. You have been so kind to me. Spring is indeed a wonderful time for new beginnings! (Vicky you are so right on this)

It's a beautiful life. It really is.

Buntings make me happy

A little while ago i had the pleasure of contacting Anna to ask if she could custom design a new set of sewing labels for So Cute It Hurts. I was pleased as punch when she said yes! It turned out exactly how i wanted it ~ simple and beautiful with one of my favorite : colorful buntings. Just in time for Spring.

I am head over heels for the sweet creations by Anna of lillalotta. She makes such beautiful and colorful tapes and prints out of her original Lilla Lotta goodness and illustrations.

Anna has always been designing and creating my lovely sewing labels since So Cute It Hurts was born and there isn't a vistor that comes by that doesn't compliment me on it or ask me where it's from. Anna also has a nifty blog, check it out for posts about her recent projects and new additions in her shop.

I can't stop smiling when i sew these new labels.
It makes me happy.

Thank you kindly

This week i have found myself thinking a lot about kindness and gratitude.

Hence, the birth of this greeting design. This is one of those projects that began out of my own wishing-for-something. I had a pretty fun photo session with sweet little miss Coco and my baby size wooden clogs from Netherlands. Love that. I'll send it off to the printer next week. It will be the new postcard "thank you" that is included with all of my orders.

I wanted to say thank you for all the super kind and supportive comments sent my way about little Miss Coco and the new spring tote bags. Little Miss Coco is truly grateful, too. YOU have reaffirms me that there are so much good exists in the world. Thank you so much for that.

totein' about

It took some time, but i finally had the chance to finish some photos and loaded my first batch of spring tote bags to the shop! I'm feeling sorta like patting myself on the back for meeting this crafty goal. Now i've got to get started on several projects for sweet Coco and the second batch of spring tote bags in French Macaron theme (*cough Pei Li cough*) ~ more info on that as it comes in.

I"m pleased with the result. These are just simple tote bags with some inside organization (very much needed). BUT each fabric makes up for the simplicity.

I've wanted to use these vintage fabrics for a long time now and i think each tote bag turned out beautifully. I even got to make good use of my button making tools.

a weekend dress and tote bag...oh my

Weekends are so nice ~ especially nice on long mornings with nothing to do and nowhere to be.

Here's one project i finished that pleases me to no end. I made a weekend dress and tote bag for Coco. I didn't use any ready made pattern but rather i made a pattern out of a paper and tweaked it along the way. Very satisfying.

I'm not that skilled at making dresses yet, so i made a very simple pattern in order to refrain from getting too frustrated. I wouldn't want to take the fun out of it now would I?

The front section of the dress was a little challenge to make. It took me a bit time to figure it out but my love of seeing my little Coco in a beautiful weekend dress helped me to move forward and try, try again. I'm glad I did. Honestly, i like this dress so much i left it on Coco.

Something else that's satisfying is making a weekend tote bag to go with this dress. It's just a simple tote bag but the thing i love most is the vintage natural tea print paired with the linen. The fabric makes up for the simplicity and the little leather strips were a perfect fit.

Can you tell i'm pretty psyched about it? I think more dresses for this little one might be on the horizon...

i heart mail. yes i do.

I've been meaning to post some mail goodies during the Valentine's week. Better late than never.

It might sound silly, but there is nothing quite like receiving a surprise package filled with amazing goodies from Canada by the lovely Koralee. The packaging alone is amazing, but opening the cupcake paper cups stickers covered, beautiful Canada stamp laden package to find such lovely treasures is indescribable.

Koralee is such a sweet lady. If you don't know her, you should drop by her blog and take a look around. I always enjoy her lovely posts, which happen to be full of beautiful photos and handmade treats.

The green tea and that adorable "Arts and crafts keep you sane" book pretty much sent me over the moon. Very dainty and pretty fantastic, wouldn't you say? I would.
