After falling into a rabbit hole, and what feels like a "long" and "emotional"  struggle to keep the positivity intact, i think it's safe to say that i have been able to climb out. Yep, it was the kind of sickness that played games with me physically and mentally. I am slowly climbing back up, not too much, although, i am working on it. Thank you so much for all the wonderful sweet wishes and positive thoughts, friends. You guys are too sweet. I couldn't have asked for a better treat and it makes me feel better.

After getting myself together slowly, i managed to salvage the remainder of my strength by sewing and scheming ~ my quilting blocks. I'm still scheming about. It's fun ~ i always really enjoy that  part. And it worked wonders as a mood elevator.

a couple of days late, but I’ve got some pieces together

I've been meaning to post some sewing work in progress after the weekend but the weather hasn't been very good for me to take any photos. Better late than never.

The week is moving right along. I mentioned the other day that i'm coming out of a long sewing slump. I wanted to give you further proof: started my quilting classes again after a little "offline" break. A few days of hunched shoulders, i finally start to see some patterns slowly emerging from these pieces of fabrics i cut out for my 12 blocks quilt... honestly, i'm really enjoying this, it feels pretty much like i'm putting together a jigsaw puzzle with thousands of puzzle cuts. I have been meaning to make this for ages and really satisfy that i finally got around to start it last weekend.

I've also been a lazy shopkeeper, but that is about to change. Speaking of the shop, i've decided to put new handmade items of this, this, and that on sale in honor of the glorious fact that i feel happy, lucky and simply wonderful. Give it a look.

finally getting around to...

finishing cutting my 12 blocks quilt patterns!

Seems like it has taken me forever to finally do it, but as I type this, my little white basket is filled up with all my block patterns sitting neatly on my creative work table.  :) I'm in for quite a treat in my next quilt class which i have yet to make a schedule for it. I'll report back on my adventures in my quilting as i progress.

I also started designing Sandy's wedding gifts and almost done with my list making for new fun items to make. I managed to come up with a few things that might be a good start. I'm committed to keep everything wedding and making new items related fun and relaxed.

that girl and her new Bernina

After spending the morning going through and getting all my class photos, i started missing sewing and playing with my new sewing machine.

The story started 2 weeks ago when i took my little compact sewing machine to class. That was when my lovely quilt teacher broke the sad news to me that my little one wouldn't be able to handle any heavy duty sewing and this included quilting. It was either to get a "real" sewing machine or hand quilting. I've always know that i will want to buy a "real" machine some day, i decided to order my very own bobbin a bobbin and peddle a peddle!

And so that's the story, friends.

I am SO happy with my Bernina! This machine is so slick and smooth! It doesn't only have a lot of fun functional stitches including embroidery stitches, but it has an automatic needle threader! Yippee! I had spent my third quilting class getting acquainted with this snazzy machine. I made sure i get familiar with the basics such as attaching the presser footer holder, winding and inserting the bobbin, threading the bobbin and upper thread, securing a seam and feed the dog! My teacher also taught me how to do simple trouble shooting and getting the feel of it with sewing all the different stitches. It was indeed another good day at class. Yep, i really have no complaints! :)

I wanted also to say thank YOU for all the super kind and supportive comments sent my way on my last post! Once again, i'm in awe of how amazing the creative community is ~ it really astounds me but most of all it reaffirms for me that people are mostly good, kind and supportive of one another. That is really important to me. Thank you so much for that!

Cut, cut and more...cutting

It makes me really happy to say that I can share here with you my excitement and joy to the start of this beautiful quest ~ quilting course. I really enjoyed my first quilting class on last Saturday. One cool thing about my course is that there is no time line as to when i have to finish each section of my homework but i could work according to my own pace without any pressure and stress.

My teacher, Mrs Gill, is a very spiritual, patience and down-to-earth person. I feel really comfortable around her. During my first class, we got to know each other a little better. :) Gill has a lot of passion for needlecraft and she has over 9 years of experience in the retail world of needlecraft products and education. During our first meeting, i told Gill about my passion for needlecraft and my curiosity about quilting. I spoke frankly to her about how i would love to conquer my fear and learn to use a sewing machine. :)

My quilting course is an intermediate course with a combination of 12 patterns. I am making a wedding quilt for Kim and me. hehe I know it's gonna be challenging... but i believe in Gill and me. And most of all, i have YOUR support and love to guide me through this course. *hugs* Gill will also guide and help me to conquer my fear and get me familiar in using a sewing machine. Yippee and hooray! I will have to bring in my little sewing machine on my second class...so excited!

A start of a beautiful quest that allows for self-actualization! My first class...is a lot of cut, cut, cut and more cut!

After class, my best girl, Adeline and i went to do some girly fun stuffs and tea time at Marmalade. They have the best carrot cake in town. :)

Did someone say quilt?

...me! I have some exciting news to share here with you. After months of hoping and hunting high and low for some sewing courses, i'm finally getting some good feeling about it. Believe me when i said hunting high and low, every time and every chance i get when i passed by an alteration or dress making shop, i always pop-ed in and asked if they were offering any sewing courses and each time i get a disappointing no.

So...my little magical story begin on labor day holiday (1st of May) ~ when a couple days old piece of newspaper landed on my feet as i was taking out my laundry from the washing machine. My housemate usually kept all the old newspapers stacked up at the corner of the washing room..and i guess the wind must have blew one piece of it away from it's resting spot. As i picked it up, there it was a piece of article title "Creative needlecraft ". My face was glowing with happiness and excitement after i finished reading the article...and i guess you can figure out the rest of the story.

This was how i came about and enrolled me to my next adventure ~ a quilting course! :) I can't tell you how excited i am about this. Kim definitely can. He knows exactly how much because I've told him about a thousand times. Honestly, I think he's looking forward to my course as much as I am.

I'm starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel here. I'm fairly certain I see a glimmer, which makes me want to do some type of fancy flip or that move where you jump in the air while clicking your heels together. One thing for sure, it's nice...really nice to finally have someone on a one to one advisory and guidance...and it's gonna be a huge improvement for me on my skill of sewing and needlework. It's kinda cool how things all come together at the right time especially now when im also thinking of a huge list of new items and updates for my little shop.
