Hello out there.

I'm still here, long time, no update. Life has certainly gotten in the way of my being able to say hello in this space lately, that's for sure. I'm fairly certain this is a common occurrence, so i'm not being too hard on myself about it.

Finally, after way too long trying to find time to photograph my new girls ~ i finally found time today. I was so fortunate to adopt my first Miel (little girl at the first photo) and Lami (the other little one at the second photo). Very happy to be able to cross off Miel from my 2013 wishlist. I'm thrilled that they are both super sweet and possibly quite drooly. Don't you think?

I started a new project a couple of weeks ago with my friend Pei Li. It's not finished yet, but I'm excited. Let's just say there's going to be lots of Sunday afternoon cutting and piecing around here. More soon, promised.

adventures in sewing

It has been pretty quiet around here. Not because i want it to be, but because i've been busy with work these last few weeks. I'm hoping to find a nice balance soon. As busy as i've been, i am happy to say i spent a good portion of the weekend working on and finishing a little Zakka dress set for my dear friend's baby doll. Vicky, if you read this, i hope you like it.

Inspired by this, i finally got around to snap a couple of photos over the weekend. My little Ruki wanted to model this dress set with our favorite sweet fleur hat made by talented Tricia of henriette❦jardin. I've been working on and off on this new zakka dress pattern for months (yes, i've been known to get distracted). I know i didn't stick to the the pattern exactly, but i really dig how it turned out.

Very simple dress, BUT the little details make up for the simplicity. It turned out really nice and my little Ruki didn't want to take it off. Can you tell she is pretty psyched about it?

I added a pair of pink socks for flair and finished the zakka dress set with a the little petticoat skirt just because ~ i wanted to give this zakka dress set a puffy effect. I'm already thinking about making another new zakka dress set for my girls. Hopefully i can find the motivation to finish the next one in a timely fashion.

my favorite little pumpkin

Somebody got a new zakka dress set this weekend!

Lucky for me the sun was up this morning allowing me to photograph my little favorite pumpkin, Kuroo, wearing the newest zakka dress set i sew for my girls. I love how this little zakka dress turned out so much and the pattern is from me. It's so easy to whip up ~ i added a lace pocket for flare and a cute little pair of white socks to match. Cute? Perfect for little kicky legs, too.

The best custom miniature kitchen furniture package arrived this week from my best lady Vicky. She has always given me lovely gifts, and this parcel was no different. I could go on and on. I guess you know by now i'm a big fan of Vicky's sweet creations. The beautiful Shabby Chic kitchen wall cupboards with shelf, the kitchen sink and the lovely heart frame are perfect for my shabby chic kitchen roombox.

My girls and i also received an amazing custom Ranunculus hair accessory in the mail this week. Thank you so much, Pei Li. We LOVE it!

Thank you all so much for the sweet comments about my feature in "Everything goes with Ice cream" by Koralee Teichroeb book. It has been very comforting to read all your sweet kind comments. Thank YOU once again for reminding me that so much good exists in the world.

pleased as punch

I'm still here. I'm just spending most of my time focusing on crossing off each and every line on the zillion to do list i've recently created. Sad thing is ~ i'm only a so-so list-completer.

Look how spoiled my girls have been lately when it comes to one of our favorite things:  Mail. The other day my sweet dolly sister, Sue of ChantillieLane sent me these beautiful tutu skirts. oh my! These skirts are so well-made and maybe it's just me, but i think they are too cute for words. Truly.

Get this. Receiving these adorable tutu skirts made me want to SEW matching color tops for these skirts! I have had the urge since receiving them and just never followed through, but today i did and now my girls have some super funky adorable tops to match with their tutu skirts.

it was a good year

Happy New Year!!! Well, almost.

Another year is coming to a close. It's hard to believe. So much has happened in the last 365 days. It was such a wonderful year and full to the brim for me. 

There were ups and downs, as with any year. There were BIG moments, like a change in job, found love and venture into making miniatures. I made new friends, took lots of photos, cooked new recipes, created some art, and rambled about it here.

It was a good year. Thank you for stopping by this silly blog to share it with me.

Zakka dress set

Another weekend almost comes to a close. I hope you are having a good one. I managed to make the best of mine even though it rained and rained and...is still raining. I spent several days working {and making a huge mess} in my little creative corner . It was also pretty exciting to be productive again after months of procrastination.

After months of it sitting unfinished, i finally completed this new zakka dress. It's from a Satomi pattern i picked up months ago. I added a pair of leggings for flair and finished this zakka dress set with a little tote bag just because.

Seeing this little piece come together slowly stirred up the crafty energy (i knew it was still there) and reminded me that i really love to sew and always get a great deal of pleasure out of the entire process.

It will eventually make it's way to a new home -- but for now i get to hold it up close, admire it and get a great deal of pleasure out of the entire sewing process. It really cheers me up.

my little pumpkin

Happy weekend. It has been a really good one so far. 

Finally...after three months and 5 days, one airplane ride, and a boatload of excitement, this sweet bundle arrived, LPP's Kuroo The Sheep! Seeing the two babies, Coco and Kuroo, together was sweeter than the candied yams i had!

Kuroo the Sheep is Lati's limited collection from the Le Petit Prince series. Le Petit Prince is a short novel and the most famous work of the French aristocrat writer, poet and pioneering aviator Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. I really love how Lati builds their little dolls character based on children's book.

She is my sad but very beautiful baby to add to my collection. If you have been reading for a while, you have probably picked up on the fact that i adore sheep, i couldn't resist not taking her home. 

Coco and Kuroo have already decided they love one another to the moon and back. Coco thinks Kuroo is quite possibly the sweetest and most beautiful baby she has ever laid eyes on. My little girls make me happy.

I'd be lying if i said i wasn't having fun dressing her up....so much so that i even wore her fleur hat the wrong way. Silly mama!

So very thankful for these two little ones.

I still haven't totally recovered from what i now refer to as "coming down with the funk" (congestion, sore throat and headache), however i had quite a productive day yesterday. Pretty proud about that...

These are some of my newest miniature tote bags, one is a custom order for a dollhouse settings and some others are Coco's goodies. She needed a few more (okay, i needed her to have a couple more).

These tote bags are definitely a great way to use up some fabric scraps, and i always like it when i find projects that work for that.

This is a new bag design. I made a pattern out of a paper and tweaked it along the way. I really dig how it turned out. Very spring. I finished it with some raw edges and Coco seemed to be down with that. I love it's raw edges and that vintage shabby chic rose print paired with the linen.

This new bag pattern is easy to sew, and it's cute ~ sometimes something being easy doesn't necessarily mean it's cute, not the case here. I love it so much, i made another one bigger in size. This time i used my all time favorite vintage cross stitch pattern and finishd it with some tinny small gathering stitches. Cute, eh? I am filled with total giddiness.

Buntings make me happy

A little while ago i had the pleasure of contacting Anna to ask if she could custom design a new set of sewing labels for So Cute It Hurts. I was pleased as punch when she said yes! It turned out exactly how i wanted it ~ simple and beautiful with one of my favorite : colorful buntings. Just in time for Spring.

I am head over heels for the sweet creations by Anna of lillalotta. She makes such beautiful and colorful tapes and prints out of her original Lilla Lotta goodness and illustrations.

Anna has always been designing and creating my lovely sewing labels since So Cute It Hurts was born and there isn't a vistor that comes by that doesn't compliment me on it or ask me where it's from. Anna also has a nifty blog, check it out for posts about her recent projects and new additions in her shop.

I can't stop smiling when i sew these new labels.
It makes me happy.

Thank you kindly

This week i have found myself thinking a lot about kindness and gratitude.

Hence, the birth of this greeting design. This is one of those projects that began out of my own wishing-for-something. I had a pretty fun photo session with sweet little miss Coco and my baby size wooden clogs from Netherlands. Love that. I'll send it off to the printer next week. It will be the new postcard "thank you" that is included with all of my orders.

I wanted to say thank you for all the super kind and supportive comments sent my way about little Miss Coco and the new spring tote bags. Little Miss Coco is truly grateful, too. YOU have reaffirms me that there are so much good exists in the world. Thank you so much for that.
